More dreams, made possible by you.

Volunteers and bicycle donations are the heart and soul of St. Louis Bicycle Works. Volunteers keep the program going strong, and have been instrumental at giving hundreds of kids a safe, supportive place to learn and practice the value of teamwork and responsibility.

We can use your old bicycles and parts, no matter the condition. You can find out more about where and how to donate bicycles here.

We hold a Volunteer Orientation meetings the first Tuesday of each month at 6 p.m., at our location at 2414 Menard in St. Louis. If you have any questions about volunteering, please send an email to

We’re always looking for people to fill the following roles. However, if you have other skills you’d like to share with St. Louis Bicycle Works, please contact us at We also work with high school and community service projects. Get in touch with us to learn more.

Teachers: We always need teachers to lead our classes. You don’t need to have in-depth technical knowledge of bikes — we’ll teach you what you need to know. You do, however, need to have a passion for sharing your knowledge — and a love for working with kids. A full background check will be required.

Schedulers/Organizers: If you want to help, but our hours don’t overlap with your availability, we’re looking for people who can help organize our volunteers and the class schedules. You’ll maintain the database and make calls to parents and volunteers.

Mechanics: If you’d like to work in our bike shop, you’ll have the chance to do everything from helping kids change innertubes, to stripping bikes for parts to complete restorations. Even in this role, you’ll be amazed by what you can learn — and teach.
